The newspapers from August and September 1896 have been a real adventure to read. Although I can’t say any of these articles have much to do with the societal context behind animal welfare policies, they ARE extremely weird and entertaining stories of animals in the news that are vaguely related to animal control, rabies or vivisection. So, here’s some super strange bonus content. I’d personally love to know what happened with the bears.
